Kings

Happy Friday all! Thank you again for joining me this week, God has just continued to work in me through this and I appreciate you all being a part of it. This week I am going to be going over the first two Kings of Israel, Saul and David. You can find the stories of these two great men in the book of Samuel (both 1 and 2), for the sake of keeping this post shorter I will not be posting the whole story rather I encourage you to look up the stories and read them. I will be referencing specific scripture in the NASB translation, but encourage you to read whatever you most comprehend. First thing first lets look at Israel at the time leading up to this moment, they have been a nation composed of tribes that have been lead by prophets or judges (think like folk heroes with powers from God, but less cool. I recommend reading Judges to get the full story, because it was a big fail) The people are fed up with not seeing God interact with them so they ask for a king like the nations (1 Samue...

He is Good

Good morning everyone, thank you for joining me again this Friday morning for another epiphany. I greatly appreciate y'all's support in the beginning off this blog and my hope is that it provides you with a new look at some of the questions we've all had about our faith walk. Today's focus is on the distinction between knowing God is good and believing He is. Lets be honest, we all know God is good my hope is that we can all believe God is good. I will be using the passage out of John chapter 10, where Jesus speaks on who he is to the pharisees, I would encourage you to read chapters 9-10 to get the full context. I will be using John 10:11-18  out of the New American Standard Bible as the main point, but I encourage you to read it in the version you best comprehend. Jesus says in these verses "I am the good shepherd" and elaborates on what that means. The focus of these verses helps us to know God is good, because simply put Jesus is God and He is saying how...

It Was Good...

Welcome back and happy Friday! I'm going to do my best to post something new every Friday in the hopes that regularly sharing what I am experiencing in my faith will not only keep me accountable, but also spark a discussion that can provide a little more shape to this blog. I want to take this moment to first thank God again for all that He is showing me in this season, but also to thank you for reading this and sharing this when you see fit. God is moving, and we all get to be a part of that move, so I thank you for facilitating my part. This week I wanted to take a look into the very beginning of everything, the creation story in Genesis. I am continuing to use the NASB translation, and encourage you if you haven't read Genesis chapters 1-3 to do so in the translation that you best comprehend. Now back to the focus of today's post "it was good" that phrase is used by God six times in Genesis chapter one. Every single time it is mentioned He is referring to His...

Sword of The Spirit

Thank you again for joining me this week as I share another epiphany from God. The primary scripture used in this post is going to be Ephesians 6:17 I am continuing to use the NASB translation, but again I encourage you to use the translation that you best understand. This passage is found at the end of Paul's letter to the local church in Ephesus, the primary message of this letter is to remind the Christians there that they are fighting a spiritual battle. At the end of this letter Paul is wrapping up the letter by equipping the Ephesian Christians with a metaphor of the tools used to fight in this battle, using the imagery of a Roman Legionary. This metaphor works even for us modern Christians, and my goal is to share with you the importance of using the tools provided in the metaphor. "And take The Helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of The Spirit, which is the Word of God." I want to take this opportunity to focus on the Sword of The Spirit, which is the Word of God...

Wrestling With God

Before I share what God has put on my heart, I want to thank you if you read my previous post, and encourage you to read it if you haven't. God is doing a big move in my heart, and I want to share some of the epiphanies He is giving me. Today's is in the old testament story of Jacob wrestling God (Genesis 32: 24-32) I am using the NASB translation, but I would encourage you to read in whatever version you  comprehend the best. So a little background on the story; Jacob had a older twin Esau, and to make a much longer story short, Jacob punked Esau out of his portion of the inheritance. This of course angered Esau and lead him to hunt down Jacob, we pick up the story the night before Jacob and Esau finally meet in person again after Jacob ran with their father's blessing. So in verse 24 Jacob is left all alone, he had sent all his wives, livestock, treasures, and servants over to Esau's camp. While Jacob is alone a man comes and wrestles with him until dawn. It often sa...

On Peace

Fist and foremost, I want to thank God for all of the love He provides us when we truly deserve none. That being said I want to establish a few expectations of this blog prior to actually sharing the epiphany I had. This is a loving environment any content degrading any of God's wonderful creation will be removed; I am a human, therefore I am imperfect and may say something that is wrong or hurtful, and will do my best to review and revise such content and repost in a loving manner; lastly all my posts are ultimately just my opinions and my interpretations of what I believe God is speaking to me in this season, so if you disagree feel free to ignore what I'm saying. With all that out of the way lets get to what I started all this for in the first place, Epiphany on Peace. Peace is something we all desire, and something we all seek to achieve. The manner in which we get there is never an easy one though. I have personally found that achieving peace comes easiest when my mind ...
